St Godwald’s Finstall
St Godwald’s is a community of two halves: suburban Aston Fields (with traditional housing and modern estates) and rural Finstall. It has a history of heavy industry and now has high-tech business parks. These dichotomies present exciting opportunities. Standing at the border of Aston Fields and Finstall is the Victorian church building, with hall and offices and its modern vicarage. Over the railway, beside the famous Lickey Incline, is the quiet, wooded churchyard.
A committed and enthusiastic congregation is involved with a broad range of activities, many of which draw in the wider local community. Our regular Sunday services demonstrate the breadth of our approach too, encompassing the traditional liturgy of 1662 Holy Communion, Common Worship and lay-led Family Worship, alongside innovative occasional services.
We encour age local schools to visit and hold services in our church and sup port them with one to one involvement. We have active baptism and pastoral visiting teams together with a strong and lively social infrastructure. As a congregation we aim to build upon our past successes, continue spiritual growth and strive forward in our quest to grow our church on the three platforms of Mission, Outreach and Fellowship.
