Bromsgrove Parish

The vacancies across all the current parishes provide an excellent opportunity not only for pastoral re-organisation, but for the appointment of a new team of clergy. One advantage of a team approach is that, with collaboration, particular specialisms and expertise can be welcomed which strengthen the overall effectiveness of the team.

The three stipendiary clergy will work as a team, with one - the Team Rector - taking responsibility for team formation and strategy across the whole parish. Each will have particular responsibility for one or more of the existing congregations as well as leading on particular aspects of ministry associated with parts of the parish or across the whole parish.

Across all areas and churches of the parish the aim is to grow our faith, our fellowship, our numbers and resources, and our impact on the communities of which we are a part. The leadership of our clergy, and their effectiveness working as a team, will be vital as together we proclaim the Good News of Christ.

Each member of the clergy team will develop ministry, supported by lay members of the parish, with those seeking baptisms, weddings and funerals and with schools and community organisations and local businesses. In addition each team member will have specific responsibilities.

Team Rector  (Living at St. John’s vicarage) Responsibility for:

· Team leadership and parish strategy

· Pastoral oversight of the congregations at St. John’s and St. Andrew’s

· Civic links and chaplaincy with local government

· Outreach and ministry within the commercial community of the High Street

Team Vicar  (Living at Catshill vicarage) Responsibility for:

· Pastoral oversight of the congregation at Christ Church Catshill and Priest-in-Charge of Holy Trinity & St. Mary Dodford.

· Development of ecumenical relationships in Catshill and across Bromsgrove with a view to developing shared patterns of ministry.

· Taking a lead on mission and outreach across the parish, including pioneering new forms of church - working with families and young people within new patterns of worship and church life, not necessarily located in existing buildings of the parish.

Team Vicar  (Living at Finstall vicarage) Responsibility for:

· Pastoral oversight of the congregations at St. Godwald’s and All Saints

· To lead on links with schools, the FE College and the health service (Hospital and Hospice).

· Outreach and ministry within the industrial and business community which is located largely in the South & East of Bromsgrove.
